Detroit Pistons Fire Head Coach Monty Williams
After Only One Season
The Detroit Pistons have fired head coach Monty Williams after just one season, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.
The Pistons were an NBA-worst 14-68 this past season, the first in what was a six-year, $785 million contract extension Williams signed last summer.
Williams was hired by the Pistons in 2014 after spending two seasons as an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He was previously the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans for five seasons.
The Pistons have not yet announced who will replace Williams as head coach.
